About Greater Binghamton/Broome County, NY
Greater Binghamton and Broome County sit at the heart of New York's Southern Tier, where the Susquehanna and Chenango rivers converge and a rich industrial legacy has given way to a vibrant, evolving destination. Built by historic innovators and fueled by a new class of creative visionaries, the region is filled with rich history and unique experiences – including a thriving arts scene, a booming craft beverage culture, and a downtown undergoing genuine revitalization. Accessible in just under three hours from New York City, the area punches well above its weight as a meetings and events destination, offering excellent value alongside a genuinely welcoming community feel. The region's cultural and recreational assets are both distinctive and diverse. Greater Binghamton is known as the Carousel Capital of the World, featuring a unique collection of antique merry-go-rounds. The area is also home to Ross Park Zoo — one of the nation's oldest, dating to 1875 — anchors 90 acres of family-friendly attractions and Animal Adventure Park which features a walk-through zoo and a drive-through safari like nature preserve. On the events front, the community draws serious crowds: the annual Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally brings more than 100,000 visitors each summer and LUMA, the largest projection fine arts festival in the United States, draws tens of thousands to downtown Binghamton each fall. Greater Binghamton is also home to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double A New York Mets affiliate and the DICK's Sporting Goods Open, part of the PGA Champions Tour, is the largest professional sporting event in Central New York.
