Shady Strong ALS Awareness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by ALS throughout the Southern Tier and Upstate New York. Services include financial assistance, access to essential equipment through a lending closet, and personalized support tailored to each family’s needs.

Shady Strong was founded by a family personally navigating an ALS diagnosis, turning lived experience into purpose-driven support for others facing the disease.

Since its founding, Shady Strong has raised over $190,000 to directly support local families, providing equipment, home support, and critical resources at no cost.

The organization places a strong emphasis on supporting caregivers and serving veterans, who are disproportionately affected by ALS. Through partnerships with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and national ALS groups, Shady Strong helps ensure access to care, education, and support.

Shady Strong also works to connect families with specialized services, including speech therapy, assistive communication technology, and community-based resources that improve quality of life.

Through advocacy, outreach, and community events, the organization raises awareness while making a meaningful, direct impact across the region.
