About Us
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Pursuing our mission since 1865, we have approximately 1.8 million members serving in 133 countries worldwide. Overall, we serve approximately 23 million Americans every year. Here in Binghamton and Broome County, we serve an estimated 50,000 meals per year, and that number is growing! The need for help is great in this community, but the greater need is hope. We strive to serve not only basic needs, but to provide our clients with hope. Hope is the belief that tomorrow will be better and overcomes our fears that make us feel like we cannot make it. Hope is greater than fear!!
