Overview:
The Vice President (VP) of Finance serves as a key member of GHS’s executive leadership team and his/her expertise will be relied upon to help the credit union achieve both tactical and strategic progress toward goals.

The VP of Finance is involved in a broad spectrum of activity across the institution. This includes the planning and overseeing of our accounting endeavors in areas such as process improvement, quality assurance, budgeting and accounting/ reporting operations. This includes creating and enhancing systems to provide accurate and timely financial reporting that is in compliance with GAAP, regulations, management and investor requirements. The position also performs financial analysis for management, Board of Directors and outside agencies. The VP of Finance works with the President / CEO to direct investment activity and manage Asset Liability Management (ALM).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

- Oversees the Accounting Department to ensure efficient operations.
- Prepares financial reports; ensures complete/accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
- Directs the Credit Union's investment activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization; promotes the - Credit Union in financial markets to assure sources of capital.
- Oversees and directs Treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities.
- Provides safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities.
- Writes, reviews, and distributes financial policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory and policy compliance.
- Oversees reporting to regulatory authorities and to the Board.
- Works with auditors/examiners on audits and examinations.
- Formulates and executes investment policy; prepares financial forecasts.
- Implements and reviews risk management initiatives.
- Directs preparation and evaluation of budgets and capital plans; directs receipt, disbursement, and expenditures of money or capital assets including departmental and operating budget.
- Prepares and oversees all aspects of ALM process; ensures the balance sheet is in compliance with ALM policy.
- Reviews operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.
- Evaluates/changes loan and deposit rates to remain competitive and provide liquidity.
- Evaluates and models for profitability and cash flow purposes: new products, delivery channels, changes in existing vendors and platforms.
- Oversees the Compliance and Support Services departments.
- Oversees the Information Technology vendor relations.
- Other duties, tasks and functions, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience: Minimum of ten years similar or related experience.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting required, CPA preferred.

Interpersonal:
This position involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization and requires professionalism, courtesy, finesse, tact and diplomacy. This position requires the ability to engage and influence others by building rapport. Employees must demonstrate clear concise professional verbal and written communication. This position requires extensive personal contact with others and may be of a personal or sensitive nature.

Other Skills:

- Excellent analytical skills, people skills, and self-direction.
- Proficiency with PC accounting, spreadsheet, and word processing software. Background in financial data processing systems preferred. Overall knowledge of Credit Unions programs, policies and procedures is required.

Must demonstrate ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and do so regularly and when appropriate. - Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding credit union staff and member information.
- Demonstrate organization and quality work product by producing error free communications, transactions and required forms and paperwork.
- Position requires occasional travel, rotational weekend Manager On-Call coverage for branches and extended hours and attendance for meetings and seminars.

This position requires both sitting and standing for extended periods of time. The use of fingers, hands and arms is regularly needed for keying, the use of calculators, typing, counting money and other tasks outlined in the essential duties. Regular communication by talking and listening to members and employees is required. Periodic lifting up to thirty (30) lbs. and occasional lifting up to fifty (50) lbs. may be required. Stooping, crouching and/or kneeling may be needed on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. May need to move furniture and/or assist in facilities management.
