Avionics Model Based Design Engineer III

With the typical UAV now potentially operating in the same space as commercial aircraft, control of the aircraft at a system level is becoming more critical than ever. ENSCO engineers develop Model-Based Designs for avionic control devices as well as top-level system controls connecting the devices. This tight double loop closure architecture ensures not only safe but also consistent operation of the avionic systems. Model-Based Designs create system level solutions in a fraction of the time that traditional systems use, and help create the structure for future designs in the process.

ENSCO Avionics, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a software engineer skilled in Model-Based Design of embedded control system software. The right candidate will be part of a technical team that supports Model-Based Development activities for real-time mission and safety critical embedded control systems. The work utilizes MathWorks MATLAB software for the analytical analysis of the aircraft models and Simulink for the model build and simulation environment. The task will include the generation and review of models, and the associated verification efforts required to satisfy Airborne safety requirements. Experience working at the full system level where the MBD solutions are managed with graphical controls such as MagicDraw is a plus. To satisfy FAA standards design and test documentation is managed in controlled environments of Synergy and DOORS

Qualifications Required (Skills)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; minimum 3 years' relevant experience
  • Experience with Model-Based Development (MBD) analysis with tools such as MATLAB
  • Experience with MBD Embedded Software Simulation tools such as Simulink
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate effectively in teleconferences with suppliers, clients and colleagues
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Qualifications Desired
  • Experience with MBD system design tools such as MagicDraw
  • Experience with Avionic embedded control systems
  • Experience with formal requirements and developing software test cases and procedures.
  • Experience with Configuration systems such as IBM Rational Synergy and/or Apache Subversion (SVN)
  • Experience with Requirements Tools such as IBM Rational Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
