Professional Development: Workforce Development Disability Awareness Training

Workforce Development Disability Awareness training is for employers, and workforce development staff. People with disabilities are the most discriminated minority in employment in America, yet this goes generally unnoticed. This training brings together education on disabilities and enhancing sensitivity. The presentation includes definitions, etiquette, interaction skills, the disabled perspective, accessibility/universal design, understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act, hiring practices/employment, and current trends and topics. Attendees will learn about, and be sensitized to, the disabilities that they encounter most frequently. Attendees will also be able to better understand diversity as it relates to disabilities, individual needs, how to implement techniques and accommodations in the workplace, and all aspects of employment within the disability spectrum
