Professional Development: Inspiring Positive Change: A Strength-Based Approach

Motivational interviewing and cognitive restructuring are strength-based approaches designed to help clients find the motivation to make positive behavioral change. As a client-centered approach, personal strengths are pitted against challenges, ambivalence is explored and addressed, and personalized plans for self-fulfillment are designed and acted upon. Throughout this training, participants will learn about the principles behind motivational interviewing, strategies of support, engagement, and client empowerment via personal strengths.
