Painting the Portrait in Oils

Do you have some background in oil paint and wish to expand your understanding of portraiture? This class is designed as an introduction to painting the portrait from life. Students will explore the structure and anatomy of the head, using simple value shapes to build form, and mix fleshtones. Demonstrations in paint handling, color mixing, and alla prima painting methods will also be covered. All levels are welcome, and some oil paint experience is preferred. Each day will start with a demo and warm up sketches in charcoal with individual painting time in the second half of the class. Materials list provided upon registration
