Southern Tier YP Summit

The Young Professionals (YP) Alliance is a brand new strategic partnership of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce.   We’ve established a network consisting of the Southern Tier Young Professionals, The Emerging Leaders Society, and The Broome County Urban League Young Professionals to empower the young professionals and emerging leaders of Broome County.

The YP Summit is the first of its kind in the Southern Tier where you can:

  • Foster connections with other YP’s in our area
  • Attend 3 engaging Breakout Sessions from a list of 9 topics with top notch speakers and panelists including:

Erin Vilardi – Founder and Director of VoteRunLead, a national organization leveraging technology and training to accelerate the number of women in civic and political leadership. Erin has appeared on CNN, BBC and Fox News and her work was featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, as well as numerous international and domestic articles on women and leadership

Arel Moodie – A professional speaker & best selling author who has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, Forbes and Inc. Magazine. A Binghamton University Grad, Arel has been a featured speaker at the White House and has been personally acknowledged for his insights on youth engagement by President Obama.

Andy Taylor - An Internationally Certified Executive and Leadership Coach who conducts dozens of workshops and trainings each year throughout the Southern Tier, in Orlando, Florida and Shanghai, China. Andy is a Certified Trainer in Crucial Conversations, DiSC, Emotional Intelligence, Developing High Performance Teams, Improving Employee Engagement and Coaching for Behavioral Change.

      • Establishing and communicating healthy boundaries and advocating for yourself, rather than saying yes to every request or opportunity. 
    • Civic Engagement - Johnson City Ballroom - Speakers: Laura Hamilton (Salvation Army); Brianna Barnett (B.C. Clean Up Crew); Amelia LoDolce (Vines); Kevin Blake (ICS)
      • Many Young Professionals want to give back and participate in their community, but do not know how. This panel will inform the audience on how to get engaged, where it is needed, and how to serve on a board.
    • Finding Your Voice in Networking - Binghamton Room - Speakers: Arel Moodie (Art of Likability); Rachel Jenks (Rtistry by Design)
      • How to successfully network and build a career from it. Tools to become comfortable in every social situation.
  • Panel Discussions
    • Southern Tier Entrepreneurs - Binghamton Ballroom - Speakers: Charlie Randall (McIntosh Labs); Jamar & Nicole Johnson (Jrama's)
      • Discussion with local successful entrepreneurs on how they created their business, successes, failures and how they built themselves back up after a failure.
    • Sitting on the Same Side of the Table + Conflict Zone -  Johnson City Room - Speakers: Lea Webb (Binghamton University); Dr. Fran Battisti (SUNY Broome); Dr. Brian Rowland (Visionary Leadership LLC)
      • Proven strategies for identifying, negotiating and working through interpersonal conflict whether it be in the workplace, with clients, with friends or with family.
    • You Said What? - Carousel Room - Speaker: Andy Taylor (Andy Taylor Consulting)
      • Keys to successful engagement between millennials and boomers.
  • Interactive Workshops
    • Turning Social Media into Profit - Johnson Ballroom - Speakers: Joshua Bernard (BingPop.com); Dylan Gilligan - (Upstate Merch)
      • Proven strategies on how to convert real life experiences and best social media practices to make your ventures profitable
    • Your Workplace is You - Carousel Room - Speaker: Arel Moodie (Art of Likability)
      • How to develop your personal brand while also presenting yourself as a professional in many different work settings. 
    • How to Start a Business - Binghamton Ballroom - Speakers: Dan Mori (Koffman Southern Tier Incubator); Rochelle Layman (SBDC)
      • Do you have an idea and want to start your own business, but have no idea how to start? This workshop will start you on the right path and provide you with a template to show you the next steps.
